Uyanga is a 39-year-old mother who participates in our VillageFXB community development program in Mongolia.
“My husband, my four children and I live in the Dornogovi desert region and have been part of the program since 2019. It will end in a few months and our family is very happy to have been able to participate. We were very poor.”
Today, thanks to the training and support I received from FXB, I was able to obtain a permanent position as a kitchen assistant and thus generate a more stable income.
Our lives gradually changed over the three years of the program. Previously, our family income relied primarily on my husband's precarious seasonal work. We also launched a small family business thanks to the new skills we acquired and the start-up capital provided by the program. We make stimulating felt activity books for children, which sell very well and supplement our monthly income.
It's important for us to pass on the value of work and money management to our four children, which is why we involve them in family activities as much as possible. For example, we just finished an order of felt bookmarks that we designed together as a family. My husband and I did all the sewing, and our children cut out the shapes from the felt. To acknowledge their work, we gave them a portion of the profits. They felt very proud and happy, and they're learning to respect and spend their money wisely.
